Nikon Canada Reduces Pricing in Light of Canadian Dollar

Retailers like Sears and Wal-Mart Canada aren’t the only ones making moves to adjust pricing in line with the strong Canadian dollar and the anticipation toward Black Friday in the U.S.: Nikon Canada has announced reduced pricing on all of its Coolpix point-and-shoot digital cameras, all of its DSLRs, and select NIKKOR interchangeable lenses.

“At Nikon Canada, we are proud to announce a further price reduction for our Coolpix, digital SLRs, and NIKKOR interchangeable lenses; a move that shows our continued efforts to provide Canadian consumers with the best value in both products and services,” said Gregory Flasch, National Advertising and Communications Manager, Nikon Canada.

Flasch goes onto advise that it’s “impossible” to achieve parity with U.S. prices because of things like economies of scale, tax rates, Canada’s health care system and social infrastructure. “Nikon Canada believes its price reductions make its products competitive with U.S. pricing, especially when one considers the value of Nikon Canada’s extended warranty program.” Nikon offers two-year extended warranties for almost all of its digital cameras sold at authorized dealers in Canada; plus five years for NIKKOR lenses.
